Environmental degradation, climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource scarcity are becoming important global issues that pose risks to public health, ecological integrity, socioeconomic stability, and sustainable governance. The risks to the environment have become more severe as a result of the growing industrialization, urbanization, unsustainable exploitation of resources, and anthropogenic activities, which are significantly affecting the ecosystem and human well-being. In addition, radiation continuously interacts with the environment and can influence ecosystem health and its biotic components. Therefore, it is essential to understand radiation exposure pathways, their ecological impacts, and associated health risks for safeguarding public health and environmental sustainability. Nevertheless, recent advancements in nuclear-assisted hydrogen production using the Copper-Chlorine thermochemical cycle demonstrate the potential of nuclear energy to drive carbon-free hydrogen generation and support sustainable, low-emission, clean and green energy generation system. These interrelated challenges require more holistic, multidisciplinary, and sustainable solutions that engage the community, science, policy, and healthcare systems and foster resilient societies
The Department of Environmental Science, Central University of South Bihar, in response to these burning issues, is now hosting the International Conference on Emerging Environmental Challenges Jeopardizing Public Health, Policy, and Sustainable Governance for Resilient Societies. The purpose of the conference is to offer a multi-disciplinary forum for researchers, academicians, policymakers, healthcare professionals, environmentalists, development practitioners, industry representatives, and others to discuss current environmental issues and offer innovative, sustainable solutions
The conference will be centered around critical issues that have an impact on society, with a specific focus on the impacts of climate change on communities, public health, livelihoods, and human behaviour. It will focus on the emergence of new contaminants, their routes of exposure to people through air, water, soil, and food chain, as well as health consequences. Environmental degradation from anthropogenic activities, especially industrial emissions, mining, contamination of water, generation of wastes, and unsustainable land use, will also be discussed.
The conference will feature the integration of traditional ecological knowledge and ethno-scientific practices with contemporary scientific approaches to environmental problems as a central theme. This integration can help to support sustainable biodiversity conservation, cultural preservation, ecological balance, and community resilience. The conference will also highlight the sustainable environmental management strategies, use of alternative energy sources, policy frameworks, governance mechanisms, public health preparedness and technological innovations that can support resilient and sustainable societies
The program aims to inspire and encourage national and international researchers, institutions and communities to exchange knowledge and work together in an interdisciplinary manner. It will also be a platform for the young researchers, scientists, students, and stakeholders to showcase their research, connect with peers and hold an informative discussion about the subject matter of environmental sustainability and resilience

The conference is expected to make concrete contributions, such as recommendations, to further strengthen environmental governance, sustainable development pathways and enhance the resilience of the public health status of the current and future generations

Objectives of the Conference

The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for sharing recent research, ideas and experiences related to environmental challenges and their consequences for public health.

Particular emphasis will be given to policy interventions, sustainable solutions, environmental resilience and approaches that can contribute to healthier and more resilient societies.
